Tips on Installing a Closet Organizer
Closet organizers are quickly becoming more and more popular in today's society. Closet organizers can easily take a cluttered closet and turn it into a clean and organized space. If you've been thinking of installing a closet organizer but feel it's too complicated, keep reading. We've put together some basic tips on choosing and installing a closet organizer to make your project run smoothly.
Closet organizers come in a variety of types and sizes. Some of them are made from coated wire, while some of them are made from sturdy wood or even heavyweight canvas. With all closet organizer kits, you'll probably need a few basic tools to get it together.
The very first thing you need to do, before even going shopping, is measure your closet area. That way, you'll know what size organizer to purchase. While the closet organizer kits come with instructions that list the materials needed, here is a list of the tools you'll probably need:
Pencil
Stud Finder
Level
Hammer
Nails
Screws
Hand Drill
Depending on the complexity of the kit you choose, you may need more or less equipment. If you're unable to find studs in which to place your screws and nails, you can use expanding anchors. They're certainly sturdy enough but not quite as good as something adhered to a wall stud.
For quick and simple installation, choose a closet organizer kit that doesn't need to be cut to size. There are adjustable organizers, usually crafted from wire, that fit closets that are approximately four to eight feet. Then there are organizers that are specially made for large closets like walk-ins.
While you can probably complete this project in a matter of a few hours, some people don't want to go through the work of installing a closet organizer. In this case, then it's prudent to hire a professional closet organizer to take care of things, or at least a handyman to put the kit in for you. No matter whether you install your kit or have someone else do it, you'll be amazed at how great your clean and organized closet will look!
